Cooking Recipe:

  1. Firstly, rinse the best chana dal in  water for 3 to 4 times until it becomes clean and ready to cook

  1. Place it in a pot and soak it at room temperature for a minimum 1 hour. 

  2. Drain the water and boil it for approximately 45 minutes by adding a pinch of baking soda.

  3. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil in a large pot and heat the oil

  4. Add cumin seeds followed by onion, tomatoes, chopped garlic cloves and essential spices one by one.

  5. Add all the dried spices like garam masala, coriander, red chilli, salt and stir until combined. 

  6. Now add the chana dal and stir it until everything pulls together.

  7. Turn the heat off and stir.

  8. Garnish with coriander and your dal is ready to serve.

Useful Tip:

Baking soda can be added when cooking beans or dal to soften them in less time than it would take without the baking soda.
